Ghost of Yotei PC Status

Ghost of Yotei is not available on PC, and there is no official PC release date. Sony has never announced a PC version, and there is no Steam, Epic Games Store or PlayStation PC listing for the game. The only way to play it is on PlayStation 5, where it released on October 2, 2025.

What has changed in 2026 is that the hope for a later port has mostly gone. In March 2026, Bloomberg reported that Sony had stopped a Ghost of Yotei PC port that was already well along. In May 2026, several outlets reported that PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst told staff that narrative single-player games would now stay exclusive to PlayStation consoles. Sony has not made a public statement about it, so we treat this as strongly reported, not officially confirmed.

Most of the confusion around a PC version comes from old rumours and guesses being repeated as facts. This timeline lists only what was actually announced or reported, in order.

According to the Bloomberg report, Sony's reasons are commercial. Several PlayStation games have sold less on PC than expected, and some people inside the company worry that releasing the biggest console games on PC weakens the reason to buy a PS5. Keeping story-driven games like Ghost of Yotei exclusive is meant to protect the PS5 and future PlayStation hardware.

The change does not affect every PlayStation game. Online multiplayer games such as Marathon are still planned for multiple platforms, and some games Sony publishes but did not make itself, such as Death Stranding 2, are still coming to PC. The policy targets exactly the kind of game Ghost of Yotei is: a large, single-player, first-party story game.

It is also worth knowing what the reports do not say. They do not say that the port was deleted, and Sony could change its strategy again in the future. But as of today, nothing points to a PC release in the near term.

The expectation came from Ghost of Tsushima. The first game launched on PS4 in July 2020, and Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut came to PC in May 2024, ported by Nixxes Software. Many PlayStation games followed the same pattern: console first, PC a few years later. Players assumed Ghost of Yotei would do the same, and many websites published guessed PC release windows and system requirements as if they were confirmed.

Those guesses were never official. No PC system requirements, upscaling features or Steam Deck ratings have ever been published by Sony or Sucker Punch. If you see a detailed PC spec sheet for this game, it was made up.

There is one official way to see Ghost of Yotei on a PC screen, but it still needs a PS5. PS Remote Play is a free Sony app for Windows and Mac that streams games from your own PS5 over the internet. Your PS5 runs the game; your PC only shows the picture and sends your controller inputs. You need a PS5 with the game installed, a PlayStation Network account, a DualSense controller and a stable connection. Sony recommends at least 5 Mbps, and 15 Mbps or more for a good experience.

The PlayStation Portal works the same way: it is a handheld screen that streams Ghost of Yotei from your PS5 at home. Neither option runs the game on PC hardware, so graphics settings, mods and higher frame rates are not possible.

If a PC version ever happens, it will be announced by Sony through the PlayStation Blog or a State of Play, and a Steam store page would appear at the same time. Until you see one of those, treat any PC release date as a rumour.
