Ghost of Yotei Release Date

Ghost of Yotei released worldwide on October 2, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5, with enhancements for PS5 Pro. It is out now, and there is no PS4 or PC version.

The next big date is October 1, 2026, when the Complete Edition and the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion release on PS5, together with the Most Wanted mode and a free update for every owner. In some Asia-Pacific territories that content unlocks on October 2.

Digital copies unlocked at midnight local time on October 2, 2025 in most regions, so players in New Zealand were among the first to start. In the Americas the unlock followed US Eastern time: 12:00 a.m. ET on October 2, which was 9:00 p.m. PT on October 1 for players on the US West Coast. There was no paid early access period.

A day-one update, also required for disc copies, was released alongside the game. Before launch, version 1.002 was listed at 85.119 GB. The day-one update improved rendering performance and ray tracing stability and fixed a range of gameplay, animation and interface issues.

Ghost of Yotei was announced a little over a year before launch. This is how its release date was set and revealed.

On its release date Ghost of Yotei came in three editions: the Standard Edition at $69.99 (disc or digital), the digital-only Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99 with extra armor, a horse and saddle dye, a charm, a gold sword kit and an early Traveler's Maps unlock, and the Collector's Edition at $249.99 with a replica mask, sash and tsuba. Ghost of Tsushima released on PS4 on July 17, 2020, so the Ghost of Yotei release date came a little over five years later. The two games are also far apart in their stories: Ghost of Yotei is set in 1603, 329 years after Jin Sakai's war on Tsushima, and follows a new hero, Atsu. Ghost of Yotei: Legends, the online co-op mode, released on March 10, 2026 as a free update for everyone who owns the game. It supports up to four players across several modes that build up to a Raid, and it is also included in the Complete Edition. Legends was not available at launch, so older reviews of the game do not cover it.

The Complete Edition releases on October 1, 2026, the game's first anniversary. It includes the base game, Legends, the Digital Deluxe items and both new expansions for $69.99. Existing owners can add the expansions with the $14.99 Complete Edition Upgrade. Digital purchases made by September 30, 2026 also unlock the Sakai Armor early on release day.

No. Sony has never announced a PC version of Ghost of Yotei. In March 2026 Bloomberg reported that Sony had stopped the PC port, and in May 2026 PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst reportedly told staff that narrative single-player games will stay PlayStation-exclusive. Ghost of Yotei had a strong start. It sold about 3.3 million copies by early November 2025, about a month after release, and was the third best-selling game in the US in October 2025. As of September 25, 2026, Sony has not announced any release dates for Ghost of Yotei beyond October 1, 2026.
